The main reasons for this is because different websites and apps use different fonts, and different fonts have different character (and emoji) widths, so while the emoji art may look fine on one website (like this one), when you paste it to a different site (like Facebook), the art may look warped or messed up. When copying and pasting emoji art into a Twitter Tweet, Facebook post, Messenger message, WhatsApp message, Instagram caption and almost any other social media platform, you need to be careful about how you format it. But like I said, hopefully I'll be able to create a proper emoji art canvas, or someone else is able to create one that I can link to. But the cool thing is, a simple text pad is your "canvas" - emojis are just text characters, so if you've got a device that has a simple text pad, then you've got yourself a canvas for drawing emojis. There are hundreds of emojis to go through, and the positioning of the textual characters and emojis isn't as easy as painting on a canvas (yet) - you have to use spaces to align emojis and characters. In the mean time when creating emoji drawings your best bet is to use a website like facebook emojis which allows you to easily find and copy all the different emojis that you might desire.Įmoji drawings take time to create. I haven't been able to find any emoji-art-making tool yet, which is sort of tragic, and I haven't had time to make one in time for the release of this site, but I may create one at some point. If emojis are used as paint, then they tend to be much bigger and less skillful. They're a bit like hieroglyphics in a sense because you can convey so much with only a few characters. My intention in creating this site was for it to be mainly focused towards emoji art rather than pictures (according to the definitions above), mainly because I like the economy of character use in emoji art, and the smallness/compactness of them in conveying an idea. There is a lot of overlap between emoji pictures and emoji art, just as there is a lot of overlap between text art and emoji art, but it is often a useful distinction. The term "emoji picture" usually refers to a specific type of emoji art: one in which emojis are used as "paint" rather than as actual parts of bodies/landscapes/etc. This means that the emoji artworks on this site should translate into cool emoji art tweets without too much trouble. They're big and cute and friendly compared the the other sets and that's why I decided to use them. The emoji icons used on this site are the open-source emoji set that originated on Twitter. The difference between emoji pictures and ASCII are is simply that emoji pictures have a much stronger emphasis on the emoji characters. Emoji art may also use other Unicode symbols as well - text art with emojis is fairly common because there aren't enough emojis to represent all the different shapes required to do good emoji art. Once such experimental exploration has been into the use of emojis in artwork - just like the original ASCII art used ASCII characters, so emoji art uses emojis. So we can now put emojis in any text that we want and just treat them like normal text characters - we can even copy and paste emojis just like we do with text! Along with this text emoji hype, there's been lots of experimentation with how they're used. Unicode has steadily introduced more emojis over the last few years and internet browser and operating systems (like iOS and Android) are also supporting textual emojis. This means that text can actually contain emojis (not images embedded in text). Fairly recently, Unicode introduced a large number of "emoji" characters into its specification. They are very quickly aligning with all of Unicode's text symbols. This is particularly so for the big browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. Huge players in the computing industry like Google, Facebook, Twitter, Windows, Mozilla and Apple have used Unicodes standards to decide on the symbols that should be renderable. In case you haven't heard of it before, its a standards body which helps the whole computing industry decide on which letters, characters and, in general, text that should be implemented and be usable by the operators of those devices. I figured that since people are making emoji drawings and sending emoji messages more often, that it would be a good idea to create a site where people could come and share their emoji creations and copy and paste emoji art to their social media posts really easily. Hello and welcome to Emoji Art! I made this site because I noticed that people are starting to make emoji pictures more often, especially on Twitter, WhatsApp and related sites. However, the circle needs a gap between the rotation axis and the circle so that we get a Donut and not a sphere, as exemplified in the animation above. To do that, we can rotate the circle along with one of the axis. How are we going to be able to get our Torus, aka Donut? Author: Lucas Vieira, Public Domain This is because for now, we don’t need them. Notice that we have only defined the vertices, not the edges, nor any faces. New_object = ("circle",new_mesh)Īfter executing the script we get the following “circle” object: Now we are ready to try and create a circle in Blender: import bpy Creating a Circle using Blender Python API Now that we understand how to calculate the X and Y coordinates of a circle, we are ready to convert the parametric equations of a circle into working Python code. Using Python to calculate all the points of a Circle I leave it for you as an exercise to acquaint you with these. You might ask how we get these parametric equations? It comes from some simple high school trigonometry, the sine and cosine rules. Where (x,y) are points within the circle P and (a,b) are the coordinates of the origin of the circle. In order to draw a circle we need to use the parametric equations of a circle: We are going to try and draw a circle, first in 2D. Now that we have managed to create a simple object in Blender using Python, we are ready to go to the next step. If you don’t know what vertices, edges, faces, or meshes are check this article where I explain these: Drawing a Circle Since our object only contains a single point, we only used the first parameter(vertices). You will notice that the from_pydata() method is key. It might not look like a lot for now, but so was it not so for the Big Bang? View_layer.active_layer_(new_object)Īfter running the script, we can see that a new object with the name “dot” was created and that it only contains a single dot. Open Blender, delete the default cube and click in the Scripting tab and paste the following code: import bpy What you are waiting for? Let’s get started! Drawing an Object with a single pointīefore we even start talking about Math, let’s create an object in Blender with a single point at the origin, using the Python Blender API. This is going to be a fun project and a way to get acquainted with python and 3D modeling with Blender. The maths that we are going to use is rather simple and I will try to explain it as we go along. In this article, I am going to show you, how to create a 3D spinning donut but instead of using C code, we will be using Python and Blender. See the resources at the bottom of this page to check it out. If you haven’t watched this donut in action yet, I highly recommend you. And if spinning a donut with ASCII characters is not hard enough, and it clearly wasn’t for Andy Sloane, this code also simulates a light source so that when the donut spins you are able to see the lighting shine as the donut spins.Ī donut-shaped C code can generate a spinning donut. If you have been sleeping under a donut… I mean rock, you will not have heard yet of the donut-shaped C code that can generate a 3D spinning donut, projected onto 2D using ASCII characters. Much like cable modems used for DOCSIS services, the ONT/ONU is provided by the broadband operator to the end-user. As with cable operators, Telcos also offer GPON Fiber Cable, XGS-PON, EPON, and 10G EPON fiber modem solutions.Īll of these FTTH internet technologies use an OLT (Optical Line Terminator) as a central controller, and CPE devices called ONT (Optical Node Terminal) or ONU (Optical Node Unit) that go into customer homes. With the Fiber/DSL hybrid connections, the farther away from the end-user CPE device that the fiber is terminated, the slower the speeds, as copper or ethernet connections can drop the speeds down to a slower bandwidth. Due to the need to transmit from the satellite to a ground station and then the VSAT, latency is currently unavoidable in the satellite modem service.ģ) Telco providers offer a mixture of copper-based services, like DSL variants and G.fast, along with various FTTx (Fiber-To-The-Home, Cabinet, etc.) similar to cable providers. There are even DOCSIS EPON offerings, combining DOCSIS and PON technology.Ģ) Satellite providers offer speeds up to 100Mbps but have drawbacks in latency and high costs for a much slower service compared to FTTH Internet. EPON uses a different delivery technology to achieve these speeds. EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) similarly offers a 1Gbps speed, whereas 10G EPON offers a 10Gbps symmetrical speed. Symmetrical upstream and downstream transmission over a single fiber is made possible through wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). These services are offered via fiber-optic lines, with speeds of 1Gbps (GPON) and 10Gbps symmetrical (XGS-PON). Cable providers also offer fiber-based services and FTTH Internet, including GPON Fiber Cable (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) and XGS-PON. DOCSIS 3.1 can offer speeds of 10Gbps in the downstream and 1Gbps in the upstream. CableLabs is the technical standards body that has updated the DOCSIS standard from DOCSIS 1.0 to the current DOCSIS 3.1 specification. There are generally three main technologies offered today:ġ) 1) Cable providers offer DOCSIS (Data-Over-Cable Service Interface Specifications) service, a coaxial cable-based standard developed by CableLabs. GPON, XGS-PON, EPON Fiber Modems, and the Overall Path to 10G PONīroadband technology is constantly evolving, as the need and desire for faster and faster speeds drive providers to offer their customers higher bandwidth.
